Check if CPU allright after mobo failure?

My Asus p8p67 pro died yesterday, and I was reading a post where the CPU was damaged in the process as well.
Is there a way for me to check if my CPU is allright, without waiting for a new mobo to arrive?

  1. AFAIK, you need a motherboard to check a CPU.
  2. unless you have a friend with a board to test, not really. Can't just look at a cpu and tell if it's damaged or not unless you see a big burn hole in the chip or something which doesn't usually happen.
