I have AMD E2: Super suck. I know my socket is FT1, so when I buy new chip, do I have to buy a chip with exact socket #? thanks

you have to buy cpus that match the socket on the motherboard. yes...

Yep, since the BIOS is locked via the company it was made from. You will have to buy a new Motherboard and CPU. The BIOS will have changes made and will require you to go to the BIOS to set the changes and if you can't get into the BIOS then your gonna have to get a new board because putting the OLD chip back in is still counted as a change
