3 simultaneous monitors - Z77 with i5 3570k - vga, dvi, hdmi onboard?

Z77 chipset - "3 independent display support" with 3rd generation Core processors

ASRock Z77 motherboard with D-Sub + DVI, and HDMI

If a i5 3570k (3rd gen, 22nm, Ivy Bridge) was used with this board, with Windows 7 H.P. 64bit...
would it provide separate video to 3 monitors, one in vga, one in dvi, and one in hdmi?

  1. anyone?
  2. From ASRock's site, the User Manual for the motherboard states

"This mother-board also provides independent display controllers for DVI-D, D-Sub and HDMI to support dual VGA output so that DVI-D, D-sub and HDMI can drive same or different display contents."
    ftp://174.142.97.10/manual/Z77M.pdf

It only specifically mentions dual monitors. It makes no mention of three monitors.

Intel's, Question search has this to say

"Most Intel graphics products can output to one or two displays at the same time and support several different multiple display configurations.
Starting with the 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500, three displays support may be possible depending on your computer's configuration. Check with your computer manufacturer if three displays are supported on your computer and which display combinations are supported."

I emailed ASRock's support, and posted to the Intel forum.
  3. wait for the Asrock response as Intel specifie that it depends on some specific config...

That would be your best choice to be sure that this config will run with 3 monitors...
  4. Well I really don't need to be sure. No matter the answer, I'd do the same thing now. It's further in the future. I was just wondering if anyone knew for sure, so I could archive the answer mentally.

    Hi,
No 3 display support. Available only for boards with 2 DPs (DisplayPort):

"What three independent display configurations are supported?

In most cases, three independent displays are supported in the following configurations:

If two of the displays are DisplayPort* monitors
If one of the displays is an Intel® Wireless Display (Intel® WiDi)
If the built-in display is an Embedded DisplayPort1 (eDP)"

  6. Thanks, that's a great link.

I wonder if Intel WiDi could be outputted to a monitor instead of TV...
but for that amount of cost and effort, it would be easier to just add
    a graphics card.

    Thanks
