Hello,
My 6950 is running around 30 fps and goes as low as 23 fps. Is there anything I could do to make it work more smoothly so it never reaches laggyness(20-25fps). I can't loose quality sing bf3 doesn't look that amazing without being ultra and lower res is ridiculous. Thank you in advance.

I do have to ask.... Have you downloaded the latest drivers ? It's not against the rules to play at high settings instead of ultra. But you should be getting more than 30fps in ultra. At 1920x1080 high quality settings you should be getting around 60fps. At 1920x1080 ultra quality settings you should be getting around 39fps.
you can check out this article from Tomshardware;

You seem to be at about the right spot in terms of high-end settings for your card.

I play at 1680 x 1050 I also have the 2gb card. My fan on my gpu makes a noise as if the bearing is bad(at about 40%-50 fan speed), but I should receive a new one sometime this week, but I don't think that can make my fps lower by 10-20 as most of you have said. I have tried updating my drivers but BF3 doesn't seem to work with the new ones. The one that I have had the best luck with is the one released on 9/8/2011 the ones after don't seem to load the game at all.

Maybe I don't understand how drivers work. I thought they update you'r card so maybe it can get better textures or faster responses with sending info between game and hardware, or at least get better fps than form the older driver version. I am new to pc's and my friend bought me thing pc and I have never truly "tested" it meaning overclocked it to play the best of the best games. I was hoping BF3 could be it but I am disappointed with my pc at the moment. If anyone has any tips or pointers please help me out.

do the above and see if theres a difference in the fps.

As matto17secs' showed with his post, your performance is about what you can expect if you maxed the settings out. You might just want to lower a few settings in order to get smoother game play.

PC gaming is different from console gaming. With consoles, everyone has identical systems and they never improve, so they only offer very limited to no settings to change, but with PC's everyone's systems are different, and they continue to be updated, so they offer the option to use low to very high settings and often settings beyond what normal PC's can use. It took about 2 years before most people could max out Crysis, for example.

Set video quality to custom, turn MSAA off, and bingo you have increased your FPS by 50%. If it is still to choppy try lowering other quality settings, and if there is no change from this then you may want to look into overclocking your CPU a bit.

+1 listen to this. its all about turning off 4xMSAA with AMD cards right now. its a driver issue. even 2xMSAA performs much much better. youve been told this 3 times now. just do it.

go to ultra settings, then click one over to custom, everything will be ultra. turn off 4xMSAA.

the end. have a nice day. ^^

heres a tip, bring down the console after launching the game and type in these 2 commands
renderahead.forcerenderaheadlimit 1
renderahead.triplebufferingenable 0

After entering these 2 commands the difference was night and day.BF3 feels like 60 fps even at 30 fps.I thought crysis as the most playable game at 30 fps but bf3 really takes the cake.Caspian border is my favourite map personally :D

What model is your 6950?
If it is a Sapphire Toxic I was reading up a little on that one since I am interested in buying one myself and there seems to be a very nasty issue with AMDs powertune and the higher clockrates and power draw from that card that must be fixed be the user manually.

My overclocked 5870 is roughly the same as your 6950. I play on a 1680x1050 monitor as well. I'm getting 45 to 60ish outside in caspian and around 70-90 or so indoors or in alleys. All ultra, med post AA, motion blur off, msaa 2x,hbao on, the game looks great. You should try these settings, and you should get close to or 60fps outside.

My card is a XFX 2gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150530.

I bought it in 10/18/11 and got the dirt 3 game, which I "just" got to work yesterday. Anyway I got BF3 to work better by upgrading my driver from 9/8/11 to 10/25/11, for some reason I can't get the latest one to install, the one released on 11/15/11. But I still have issues with some huge maps where I can notice lag. What can I do to "never" get lag, besides internet lag, yet still max out the graphics since if I didn't care about graphics I would have gotten it for my ps3, but I made the right choice and I need it to work like a beast. I can overclock my cpu and gpu if someone can help me out. My pc is legit but I just don't know how to max it out and play everything with out any issues or problems, ever.

I currently do not have v-sync enabled. I also reversed my drivers back to the original that came with the card, 9/8/11. They have worked well despite having the green screen blink once in a while. The only reason I updated my drivers was in hopes of having smoother gameplay.
