Hello,

like said in the title my 3years old HD4870x2 is now broken,

That is the config i had until now:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8600, Dual Core, 3.33 GHz
Motherboard: Foxconn Q.F. BlackOPS, Intel X48, Sockel 775
HDD: 2* Samsung HD753LJ, F1, 7200rpm, 32MB, 750GB, SATA-II
SSD: Corsair Force F120 SSD
RAM: Corsair TW3X4G1600C9DHX, 2x2GB, DDR3-1600, DHX
OS: 7 Ultimate
Drive: LG GGW-H20L et NEC MultiSync LCD2470WVX
Display : NEC MultiSync LCD2470WVX et BenQ V2410 Eco, 24"
Graphic Card: Asus HD 4870 X2, Dual-GPU, PCI-E 2.0, 2x1024MB

Now i need a new graphic card for my gaming PC. I have to say that i had a ot of problem with the ATI Driver, but i could still play all my games with decent graphics (Witcher2, Deus Ex HR)

I'm thinking to take a ZOTAC GTX-580 AMP2! 3GB DDR5, PCI-E 2.0 x16

But know i think that this be a problem with the rest of my hardware...
Should i take also a new Processor and Motherboard?

I ve already look at:
Intel Core i7 2700K BOX + Asus P8Z68-V PRO (or Asus Sabertooth P67)

What do you think? Only the graphics card is enough? Should i change something else i've forgot? If yes what?

Thanks in advance,

best regards,

Fitzghil

What's the native resolution of your LCD?
At 1080p you don't need a strong cpu. Anything from the 105usd X4 to the 219usd 2500k will do the job. The performance in gaming will determine on the gpu your going to get.

2700k is just the 2600k with 100mhz more. To get 2700k performance on the 2600k all you have to do is raise it up 100mhz :) for your motherboard something like the asus p8z68-v or even v-pro would be perfect.

The 2700 is most likely a higher binned chip. That really only comes into play if you are planning a particularly high overclock. The K chips are unlocked, so a simple move of the multiplier to match the 2700 is all but guaranteed.

A GTX 580 will be plenty for one monitor at 1920x1080, even for BF3 or Skyrim. Hell, you might be able to get away with a GTX570 or a 6970 to be honest.

Don't waste money on the 2700k really. Get the 2500k. Its more than enough unless you want to pay 100usd more for hypertreading a feature useless in 99 percent of the games. Gpus get a Gtx 570. Should be more than enough

Ok for the 2500K as processor i accept the argument :)
Now about the board, is really the Asus P8Z68-V PRO the best choice for it?
And at last for the GPU, i read a lot about GTX 580 (and even 590 but i don t want a dual GPU again...) but not so much about the GTX 570. Like Cygnus said i want to play Skyrym with full graphics (and BF3 if i bought it like everyone ;) ) The real question is also how will be a GTX 570 let me play in good condition...if someone can help me with this last questions...

My impression is that you shouldn't need a $400+ GPU for Skyrim even at 1920x1200, so either of the two should handle it nicely, but I guess we won't know for sure until tomorrow.

No idea on BF3.

Gtx 570 will run nearly any game at 1920 x 1200 (or 1080 for 1080p) maxed out, with less or more AA/AF, depending on the game, as well as most games at 2560 x 1600, although with lowered details in some games.
Performance wise, it perform on par with the 6970.

ok now i finally bought this:

Asus P8Z68 Pro + i7 2600K (it was a cheap bundle)
and a GTX 570 Phantom from Gainward

Now it look like i have some power problem...i could switch the mobo and boot the system with the graka on the mobo, but when i install the graka, it never boot...

Some ideas? Could it be that my power supply is not enough?

Wow, I have almost the exactly same setup and my 4870x2 is dying too. I'm underclocking it now to extend its life and maxing out the fan speed but all the new games that are coming out are either running slow or getting artifacts.
