1156 and 2x8gb

Can this be done? On intel's site every 1156 cpu says max 4gb dimm if dual ranked, but they were made before 8gb sticks. Gskill claims that their 8x2gb kits are supported by 1156.

I've recently read a post with a x58 Gigabyte board and a i7 920. Hmm don't know how I posted this, don't remember making 3 posts. But what you're saying, is tempting me to get 2x8gb. But I do not have money to screw around with, even though 16gb instead of 4 would be very useful. Wish I could just test an 8gb stick and get all the wondering over and done with.
