re: "intel dual core i7 is better in gaming but whats it like with other things "

I7-2600K crushes the fx4100 in most everything. Phenom II is a price play, lower cost, lower performances. Aside: dual core = two cores. i7-2600 has four cores, 'quad core'.

I5-2500K is a much better price performer than the 2600K. Most people would use i5-2500 vs. i7-2600 unless they are into throughput computing (e.g. video editing with software that can use 8 threads).

HIS Radeon HD 6950 : nice card- WAIT until AMD 7950 is shipping (later this month) to see whether you are better off with 6950 or newer 7000 series. Either way price should move on high end cards once amd 7950 ships. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7970-benchmark-tahiti-gcn,3104.html
