CPU Upgrade for HP Slimline-Socket 775

My Specs are as follows:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.6Ghz
4 gb Ram
Radeon 6670
400w Powersupply
Motherboard- MS-7525 (Boston)
Processor socket: 775

So the question is-Is the Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 Wolfdale 3.06GHz, the best and fastest CPU I can buy for this motherboard. I was told that Core 2 Duo E8XXX series may not work, and that Quad cores wont either, So anyone know the truth behind this?

Yea, I have read that page, but the E8XXX came out after the article was published I believe

Yes it will support E8400 with bios 5.22 or later.
