No DVD Playback in Media Player

I've installed WIN XP Home Ed. Graphics card is GeForce 2 GTS. Media Player will not play DVD's, in fact it does not seem to recognize my Pioneer 116 but it looks ok in device manager. Suggstions please!

You have to install your DVD decoder software first

I have power DVD but it is an older version and is not compatible with XP. Looks like I'll need to shell out a few bucks for an upgrade. Thanks.
