I want to upgrade my HP s5220y with a new cpu. My MS-7525 (Boston) motherboard supports all core 2 duo E7XXX for sure, but i wanted to upgrade to the E8400.

I was told they would be compabitble with a Bios update my current revision is 5.24 06/19/2009 and their is no upgrade for my computers Bios on HPs website?

So is that card compatable?

This is a big box OEM computer so upgrades are going to be very limited. According to HP's website these are the CPU's that will work with your motherboard

Processor upgrade information

Socket type: 775

Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:

Core 2 Duo E7xxx (Wolfdale-M)

Core 2 Duo E4x00 (Conroe)

Pentium E2xxx series (Conroe)

Celeron Dual Core E1xx0 series (Conroe)

Celeron 4xx series (Conroe)

Getting old, I don't remember all this stuff anymore...

I'm going to guess from looking at that list that its pointless to get the 8x00 chip. All those CPUs are <400MHz FSB CPUs, so the 8400 won't run at the correct speed.
