CrossFireX at x8 or Single at x16?

I know this questions has probably been asked plenty of times, so I apologize. I was wondering how much of an improvement I would see using 2 5830s at x8 over using 1 5830 at x16. I don't have any experience with Crossfire or SLI and I'm not sure how the cards scale or how you would even calculate the expected performance increase. I basically just want to know if it would be worth me spending the extra 100-130 bucks on a second 5830 running both at x8 or if I should just keep my single card setup at x16.
