HD crash and disk read error

Hello,
my desktop pc suddenly hang and crash and showing disk read error when restarting.what is the prob.?my hd is new,my desktop board also new.only intel dual core processor and 1gb Ram is 5years old.I am a hardware engg but I can't found the prob.plz help me....

Could be the RAM. Can you download and burn Memtest86 on a CD and run it to check the memory?

What brand is the HD? You might want to run diagnostics even though it's new. New hard drives have been known to be defective.

hdd is bad, esp if you can hear it clicking repeatedly. Send it in for warranty exchange.

Run a hard drive test in DOS....HIRENS CD etc...
