Well ive been putting some finishing touches to my new computer setup which i am loving so far i may add, but i am now getting down to a few nitty gritty details which im trying to sort out.

I have replaced my PSU with a new XFX Pro 550w, since the old one was starting to sound like a cement mixer, got a new Coolmaster Case (mainly for aesthetics) Both work admirably however now i have cancelled out the sound of the psu. I have noticed how seriously loud the stock fan that came with my processor is, im mean really its OBSCENELY loud, to the point its pretty hard to concentrate on what im doing. Now usually i have never had any problems with the stock fans supplied with the processors i have had in the past, and i havent done any overclocking, and dont really intend to anytime soon.

Now i decided to come to the tomshardware community for some advice, because believe it or not, i have not had any experience installing a seperately brought fan.

So i have a few questions on my mind.

Are these things difficult to install?
Are there any extras i may need such as thermal compound?
Any recommended brands, or even specific coolers any of you guys have had good experiences with?

Preferably id like to keep the price quite low, and the noise level low aswell.

Any input would be fantastic!

The amd stock coolers are very loud. Personally I think all of us had good experience with the cooler master hyper 212+. It is the best budget/performance cooler out on the market right now, and performs on par with certain or at least most $60-70 coolers.

Ahh thanks for your quick response!

I have heard nothing but good things about the cool master products so far, and the fan you quoted seems nicely priced indeed. Think we could be onto a winner here.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler will certainly do you just fine and for its price is massively better than the stock cooler both quieter and cooler it also comes with thermal paste pre-applied, it will also allow you to OC your CPU a little should you desire, exactly which Coolermaster case did you get as this will help us to determine if a cooler will fit or not.

Oh and its cheaper here - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/arctic-cooling-freezer-7-pro-v2-s775-1155-1156-1366-am3-am2plus-am2-939-up-to-130-watts

And even cheaper here - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Cooling-Freezer-Rev-2-Cooler/dp/B002G392ZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335045162&sr=8-1

But if it will fit your case then this cooler is even better for cooling and being near silent and allow you to max OC your CPU

The case im using is this fella here

http://www.coolermaster.co.uk/product.php?product_id=6640

The last option you linked seems like a good choice, the more reasonably priced ones seem to have a lot of reviews stating the cooler covers some of the ram sockets, and looking at my motherboard now im thinking that could potentially prove a problem since the motherboard im using only has two ram sockets.

The Coolermaster 212 evo will be a perfect cooler for your Coolermaster case, what Ram and motherboard do you have?

Thats the motherboard, its a cheap and cheerful one i admit, but hopefully it wont let me down on this minor gripe now ;)

As for ram, im using 2 cheap and cheerful DDR3 4gb corsair sticks.

Think ill be placing in an order now before i start to develop tinitus, the 212 evo will stay below 31db as stated ill be rather happy :p
