High Minecraft CPU Use

Last response: in CPUs

It gets normally from %80-%90 while playing minecraft. I have a FX-8120 at stock clock 3.1GHz, i have turned off
cool and quite and turbo core mainly turbo core beacause it kept my cpu at 1.325V like all the time. What should i do my gpu (6870) goes from 300MHz to 900MHz when i turn on minecraft but only uses like 30% gpu load. Im not sure about overclocking although 4.0GHz would probely do fine, im not sure risking $200 is worth the extra Hz.

More about : high minecraft cpu

i've heard minecraft is quite the resource, excuse the language but a resource whore, it often eats up more CPU than it needs. heck, a 3960x probably goes up to 60 percent running that game, so don't worry it's quite normal because on my i7 2600k at 4.4 ghz is at about 75 average on minecraft multiplayer all settings at max using no mods, normally get around 300-600 fps depending on what i'm doing.

Minecraft is written in java, that explains why its so piggish in system resources.

I wouldn't be too nervous about overclocking that CPU. As long as your temps are acceptable, and you shouldn't need to modify the voltages to hit 4.0GHZ on it.

Single player on minecraft uses alot of CPU power and RAM. I don't know why your CPU usage is so high. My athlon II x3 runs minecraft single player somewhere about 15-45%. If your an explorer and likes to travel out the world, that will explain why your CPU usage is that high. Of course, Multiplayer is much smoother if your having someone hosting a server for you.

I told you why. Java is a resource hog.
