Video card heat

Hello,
im having trouble keeping battlefield 3 running, it keeps crashing to desktop or just freezing saying" bf3 has stopped working" is this a ram issue or video card issue?

amd fx-4100
geforce 550ti
8gb gskill sniper 1600 ( 3.25 readable )
win7 32bit

Is this a problem specific to BF3? Try lowering quality settings in BF3 and see if it still happens. Is your 550 Ti factory OC'd?

i dont do overclocking much, only tried it on my cpu, but was crashing so i turned it back down. im running all stock now. and yes its only on bf3. all other programs work fine.

What are your GPU temps? If temps are fine, try underclocking your 550 Ti's core clock speed slightly with MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision, etc.

can u suggest a good temp software? i used hwmonitor and it doesnt match bios temps at all....

what driver are you running? did you uninstall previous driver version correctly (uninstalling physx and 3d drivers via control panel, deleting nvidia folders, removal of main drivers via device manager, driversweep etc)

what in-game settings are you using for BF3? if you are using one of the presets (low, medium, high, ultra etc) try using custom and reduce or disable AA

I use EVGA Precision to monitor temps in-game. MSI Afterburner is also another popular one.

To monitor in-game temps with EVGA Precision, go to Configuration->Monitoring, Select GPU Temperature and check the "Show in On-screen display" box.

im running the newest nvidia drivers, settings are currently on custom turning AA off and running all others at medium. but shouldnt my card be able to handle high settings ?

evga precision says gpu is idle and running at 34c

And what are in-game temps? What does it say your core clock and memory clocks are at?

in game is 70c
processor clock reads 1792
memory clock reads 2150
fan is on auto

2150 is high for the memory clock. Set memory clock to 2050 and see if that helps.

ran it on high, went to 68c, 30fps....then crashed and said in bottom left, game got disconnected....pardon my french but WTF

That just means you got disconnected from the server, it happens in BF3 sometimes. The game didn't crash.

Yeah, a max of 70c is normal under load. I wouldn't worry unless it hit 85c or above.

Why do you do not exchange your Win7 32-bit for a Win7 64-bit version?

This is a common issue with bf3. Your hardware isnt the issue here. Is your graphics card ASUS by any chance? Bf3 would crash after every round on my pc (''bf3 has stopped working''). I uninstalled ASUS OSD and voila, no more crashing!

There are other things causing these crashes as well. Do some google searching and you are bound to come up with a solution!

no i have a evga geforce 550ti, which programs make bf3 crash that are loaded on this card? or maybe its a program or glitch with my gigabyte motherboard?
