Sony Vaio PCG-FXA36 Bios upgrade

Hello,
I have Phoenix Bios R0107K5 in Vaio PCG-FXA36 running XP SP2 with 512 mb RAM (2 slots). I need to get up to 1 GB. The latop is needed for work with PLC programming (it is 32 bit). Will Bios upgarde allow access to 1 GB of RAM? The Sony upgrade method will reformat drive but I want to know if it will go up to 1 GB before I lose all my apps.

A BIOS update will not alter the existing RAM limit of 512MB. It's a limitation of that particular motherboard, not the BIOS.
