Screen Goes Gray/White When playing games

I just bought a Gigabyte 6870 and while playing Battlefield 3, occasionally the screen goes gray/white. While watching videos on Youtube, I start getting black dots (grid-like) across the screen. What should I do?

  1. Make sure you have the latest drivers.
  2. I checked that already. I tried reinstalling drivers twice. Didn't work.
    System Specs:
    i5 2500k
    gigabyte 6870
OCZ Vertex Plus 120 GB SSD
    Antec 620C
    Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
    2x4GB Patriot Gamer 2 RAM
  3. All I can think of is maybe you don't have the connector from card to monitor in enough. Try taking it out and re inserting it.

I used to have the grid like black dots too, it was my connector not seated good enough.
  4. I tried that too. It wasn't just the black dots. I started getting horizontal lines across the screen and I kept getting messages that the AMD display driver crashed and has restarted. After that message, the lines would appear and my comp would stop responding. I have had to restart at that point
  5. I'm thinking it might have been the cable/monitor so I ordered a new monitor because my old one was getting old anyways.
  6. Sounds like a good idea, that cable may be the problem.
  7. thanks man!
