Stupid question about the 3770k

Hello,
I'm considering a new build (gaming) and am basically waiting around for the 680gtx to become more available. So my question is, if I were to pickup everything including the 3770k would it operate without the 680gtx. I guess I"m confused as to whether the built in graphics on the chip is enough until I pick up the 680?

The 3770k will have integrated graphics but you will suffer a major performance hit if you do not use a dedicated GPU. Well, at least it would be this way if u were to use the 2700k currently like that. If you need, and i emphasize NEED, a computer ASAP, then get the 680 later but personally i would wait till you can get a 680 to build your computer.

This benchmark should give an idea of the performance difference the integrated will have versus a gtx 680. A nvidia gt 430 can beat the integrated and that gpu is out dated and out performed by the 680. MAJOR difference.

oh yeah, 1 last thing, there is no real performance difference getting the new 3770k instead of a 2500k. I have 2 computers, the first has a 2700k CPU and the other a 2500k and after playing hours of games, there is no noticable difference in the performance. save a few bucks and get the 2500k and if u need more power, OC. :)

The big reason for getting a 2700k or a 3770k is for video encoding.

I wish people would stop assuming what people will be doing when they just say they will be gaming.

When I first came on these forums I had said I would be primarily using for gaming but I also planned to do some serious video encoding... and there's a massive difference between the 2500k v 2700k and the 3570k 3770k due to hyperthreading.

IF you will ONLY be gaming then there is very little difference between a 2500k and a 3770k.

IF you need to encode and due multiple video jobs WHILE gaming at the same time then go with a 700k.
