Hello, not to be rude but i need the most professional answers (u know for sure) because ive been wanting to upgrade my Pc into a small budget gaming pc, but everyone says i cant. i have a HP pavilion P6520y and i measured everything. everything will fit and it is compatible.

I am upgrading my GPU to a Visiontek hd6850 and upgrading my PSU from 250w to 500w.
what i would like to know is, will it work? is there something im missing?

And the rest of the specs are good for a decent gaming rig. Those others must not have known what they were talking about. There are lots of others coming on here with a similar rig, same exact hp case and have upgraded just the gpu+psu for gaming with success.

Yes, a 6850 along with a good 500w PSU will work fine (what 500w PSU?). It looks like your motherboard has one PCIe slot so that GPU should have no issues.

Is that your PC?
That's a decent setup, just upgrade PSU and add a gaming card, you will doubled or tripled your PC performance... :)

Still using Athlon? You always can upgrade it to Phenom II x4 for more power...

Definately would become a nice gaming pc , a 6870 would push it even further just make sure you get a decent psu for it.

Its a 785g chipset. Maybe you can still overclock using software instead?

-The phenomIIx4 is almost the same cpu, mostly you are adding a bit of clock speed and L3 cache. It would be a 15% upgrade at best.

^ agreed.

according to HP http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc [...] ct=4224851
you have 1x PCI-Express x16 (2.0)

the 6850 is a good choice as well

yes its my computer. and i heard the phenom can only improve performance from my CPU by a couple of percentages. I do agree but as this little setup seems like its already breaking my tiny wallet, i think ill save up for that later on.
