Hey guys, my brother needs a new computer and he's decided he's going to game with it. One things for sure, he's going with the new Radeon HD 7970, and I've sorted out all the other bits and pieces except for the PSU, soundcard, and case. This is what I've got so far:
ASUS Radeon 7970: $749
i5 2500K - LGA 1155: $230
Asus P8Z68-V-GEN3 Intel Mainboard - LGA 1155: $218
G.Skill DDR3 8GB (2x4GB) PC-12800/1600: $48
Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB: $429
Samsung SATA DVDRW Drive: $22
TOTAL: $1,696
This means I've got around $304-$504 left for the remaining components. I'm confused about buying the PSU because I really don't know how much power I need for this rig, mainly because all of the wattage calculators I've checked out online have no calculations for the new 7970. I also don't know if I need a soundcard or not, and I'm not familiar with any good cases. Please also keep in mind if any of you guys recommend products, that they are available in Australia because that's where I live. I'd really appreciate any help, thanks!
