I have 4 Dell Dimension 5150 desktops that need to be upgraded before I can upgrade my office software. They have Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.2ghz and Intel (R) 945G/GZ/P/PL processor.
The software company says that I need to upgrade to an Intel Dual-Core 2.0 ghz or higher processor. I bought what I thought were the right processors but when I put them in they did not work (Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 ghz). I think I need to upgrade my motherboards as well but am not sure. If anyone can tell me what motherboard and processor combo will work with these systems it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for all of your assistance.

It may be cheaper to buy the whole setup; your old 5150 comes with a btx format motherboard; they're available, but by the time you pay someone to change them out and buy the cpus separately, the above setup may be cheaper and may allow you to plug in your old hardrives and office software. You can sell your e6400 cpus; the 755 board is core2 duo compatable and a btx format which may fit your dell 5150 case.

Here's one new replacement btx board by Intel which should also work with your e6400: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-BLKDG965PZMKR-Conroe-LGA775-Motherboard/dp/B000JXQJO4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1362695694&sr=8-8&keywords=btx+motherboard
