Still in the process of piecing together my new build but have one concern. I want to use CORSAIR Vengeance Memory but worried about the tall heat spreaders. Anyone know if the combo would work or know how to tell

This seems to be an OK cooler but I'm not the biggest fan of Zalman. This would probably be a better cooler for the same money: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608016

I think you are fine, I have the same mobo with an XIGMATEK Gaia, with the fan on the ram side. My HS is 50mm with the fan being 25, the Zalman is 94 but the larger section is away from the ram side. (ie I have 50mm 25 from HS and 25 from fan on the RAM side of the CPU you will have <47mm with that HS)
