Possible to use AMD ECC in Intel X7SBE?

I have little to no experience when it comes to server parts.

I bought a Supermicro Server based on the X7SBE board for €100 but with only 4GB of RAM.
This is the link to the board: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon3000/3210/x7sbe.cfm

Now I found a great deal for ECC memory.

10€ for a stick of 2GB, this is the type:

HP - 2GB (1X2GB) 800MHZ PC2-6400 CL6 ECC DDR2 SDRAM DIMM

Originally for HP Proliant servers with AMD architecture:
DL165G5 en G6
DL185G5
DL365G5
DL385G5 en G6
DL585G5 en G6

My question is, would it work with the X7SBE board which is Intel based?

And would it be a good idea to mix ECC with non-ECC ram?

Cheers,
Karel.

As far as i can see, the HP Proliant with AMD cpu's require registered ram, that will not work on your board, because it needs unbuffered ram. More over it's not a good idea, to mix ecc and non-ecc ram. Try to get unbuffered ecc ram for the upgrade or stay with the 4GB. You may be a bit disappointed with the performance of the system anyway. :)
