Upgrading from crossfire 4830, suggestions please :)

Hello,
Im currently running crossfire 4830's in my current build and they use to run pretty excellent, but now with the cards getting a little old and BF3 and MW3 running a little laggy im thinking of upgrading to a single card that would be a nice upgrade from the current cards im running. My system specs are as follows:

AMD Phenom 9850 Quad 2.5Gz
4Gb Ram
750 Coolmax Power Supply
Biostar TA790GX Motherboard
and of course the 2 Crossfire 4830's

Any suggestions on a card would be greatly appreciated :)

More about upgrading crossfire 4830 suggestions
  1. Budget ?
  2. Around $200-$250 range.......also had another question to as if i were to add another 4gb of ram would that offer any help to making my computer any faster as well?
  3. Sorry to burst your bubble, about your PSU:

For that HD6950 should fit your budget. Also GTX 560 Ti. So take a look at reviews of both and chose.

    Also change your PSU.
  4. What resolution your on at the moment?
That cpu aint the best of them it might become a problem with a good midrange card
  5. AMD 965BE should be a better upgrade than the 4GB of RAM.
  6. Currently im running at 1680x1050, damn thats crazy about my PSU....you think running the crossfire 4830's and everything would have burned it out by now lol

Definitely appreciate the recommendation, that actually would be a better upgrade considering the ram runs around the same price as the CPU lol.....thankyou for your input :)
  8. BF3 is highly dependent on your GPU. There have been numerous reports that GTX570+ cards have yielded better results than lower/mid end cards. You may find some FPS problem. But at your resolution, GTX560 Ti and 6950 are the best options.

Totally understandable, but either one of these cards should surpass the power my crossfire setup im running with my 4830's, correct? From what ive read on the specs and just because of my love with ati im leaning towards the 6950
  10. Upgrade your cpu first
  11. So i should upgrade my cpu before i upgrade my cards?
  12. yes. Pop a x4 955be in there
  13. Alright, ill probably do the cpu than do the graphics card.....any suggestions on a great psu so i dont get jacked this time ha ha.....and also have you heard anything about the 5870?? or is the 6950 better in comparison?
  14. Corsair, Antec, XFX, Seasonic.
    6950 is slightly better.
  15. Something like this ( if you're planning on crossfiring and oc-íng, otherwise less watts will do ) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207015 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021
  16. Sorry, i hate to ask so many questions, but i have another lol.....which would be better a single 6950 or a crossfire 6770?? I only ask because i can get 2 6770's cheaper than i can get for one 6950
Ask a new question
