Overclock i5 2500K to get full bang out of Radeon HD 7870?

Solution
Modbus, the first answer from amuffin answered your question.

The remarks were because the card is a mid level performance card which would not be powerful enough to saturate your cpu. You wouldn't need to worry about CPU bottlenecking until you start going more towards the enthusiast end of the gpu market.

I agree, I think you need to get that last 21-22ghz to eek out that last 2-3 FPS you can get out of the 7870. Good luck =P

wow you guys are going for such a weak overclock considering the 7870...

you would need at least 30-45ghz to get anything useful from that card.

*Sigh*

I was expecting more mature responses, oh well.

From my question anyone can tell that I'm obviously lost here but insetad of giving me some information all I get is snide remarks and sarcastic bullshit.

So, if anyone cars to give me an actual answer, I take it from your childish comments that the 2500K has more than enough power, even when not overclocked, to handle the 7870?

Solution
Son plays BF3, single player, all settings in ultra maxed w/ 2500k (4.7 Ghz) and twin 560 Ti's (1020 Mhz). The SLI'd cards give about 80% more fps than single 7850 in Gru3d game test suite. However, in multi-player BF3 on ultra has some issues and they are unrelated to the GFX cards. It's CPU limitation which is not uncommon in multi player games. It does play fine on High tho.
