Cpu suggestions?

Hello, I'm searching for an upgrade for my computer.
I currently have this motherboard
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01386897&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en#N3I

The motherboard is clean nothing wrong with it, My cpu is really slow and i run an intel celeron 450 which is pretty slow for gaming. I play the game "Runescape" I lagg pretty bad just being on the game and having teamspeak 3 and browsing the web.
I was wondering if you guys have any CPU suggestions which will let me play the game and do other things without lagging or game issues.

I found a site called newegg.com they have some pretty decent CPU's

I was wondering if this would work on my motherboard

please reply quickly, i have 2 days to decide.

  1. The highest end processors you can get are the core 2 duo 7xxx processors. Go to ebay, there tends to be much cheaper processors there than on newegg.

The Intel Pentium D you linked will work. But better get the maximum upgrade with Core 2 Duo E7xxx (Wolfdale-M). As suggested by amuffin, look for it in ebay. Here are few choices: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=intel+e7400
If it exceeds your budget, then you can go progressively lower with the following options: E7200, E4XXX. They are very easy to find in Ebay.
  3. Thank you for you're suggestions guys. Keep more coming, i can get about 80 dollars, but ebay places bids which i don't know if i can get or not. Is there a different spot?
Will the e6600 do good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116347#top

or should i just search for a e7000?
  4. The E6600 is not listed in the processor support so we can not say with conviction whether it will work on not. Better stick with the E7XXX options:
Here are E7200 options within your budget:
