How to buy/assemble a gaming PC that can perform equally to XBOX360?

I would like to assemble a PC so that I can connect it to our TV and play games that are available for both XBOX 360 and PC to play on it with the same graphics or performance but I don't know the specs or parts to buy.

BTW, I don't want it to surpass the graphics of the XBOX 360, just equal or just a little higher.
All I want is for the PC to perform without lag and have the same graphics as the XBOX 360, not a super powerful gaming machine.

I would like to be able to play Assassin's Creed series, Batman Arkham City, Portal series, etc. They don't have to be set at the highest settings, just equal to XBOX 360 settings.

What specs/parts should I buy?

Specs to hook it to SDTV
Specs to hook it to HDTV
Specs to hook it to both

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Why is it that console games don't lag at all? (or very very very seldom) but experience a lot of lag in a PC game? Is this because the specs for the game weren't met? If I meet the game requirements, would the game still lag?

More about assemble gaming perform equally xbox360
  1. Not a requirement but will $300-$400 make it?
  2. Specs to hook it to SDTV - $400 should do it
Specs to hook it to HDTV - $500 to $600 should do it at 720p
Specs to hook it to both - see the above value.

Console games don't lag (well most don't) because the games are created for specific hardware so the devs (in theory) never design them do more then hardware can achieve.
  3. lol your having a laugh why play console games when you can do it on a pc which is a million times better for all areas of gaming films and pretty much anything else you can think of.

seriously spend a 1000 and build a propper maching that will do anything you ask except sleep with you or fetch a beer

What are the specs of those PCs? CPU,RAM,VIDEOCARD,ETC

Is there a particular Video Card I should buy?

I don't have that much to spend though. Just equal to XBOX 360 graphics is okay.
    The cheaper, the better.
  5. a cheap amd dualcore, and an 96gt will match/beat a 360.. you could put 1 together for 2-3 hundred in fact you could buy 1 for less than that from a refurb shop... often for as little as 150. for that you will get a bare bones cpu/memory/psu/case/storage/burner... to which you just add a basic dedicated gfx card for about 50 pounds. any gfx card apart from low end video cards (video cards are not gaming cards) will run most games at 720p or higher
you can probably do the same with similar u.s prices..

the problem your gonna have is sourcing new parts as your likely to have to over pay for basics like ddr2 ram.

if you can spend 400 then a quad core would be feasible. and at 80 pounds/dollars wont break the bank... add in 40-60 for a motherboard, 30 for ram 50 for a psu 70 for a hdd, 30 for a burner and what ever you have left on gfx which will be about 100. this setup would punish a 360 and would be a reasonable entry level gaming pc.

thats probobly because the processor its self has the graphics built into it .. im sure that would out perform a 360 any day..
  9. Batman Arkham City's video card requirement is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 or AMD Radeon HD 6970

Skyrim's video card requirement Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 4890 1 GB

It's going to share RAM right? Will it be able to take 1 GB of RAM from my system RAM?
  10. $350 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570

    $350 - AMD Radeon HD 6970

Do I really need to spend that much for a video card?

Batman Arkham City's minimum says NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB or ATi Radeon HD 3850 512 MB though

Would those surpass XBOX 360 graphics?

Would the CPU - AMD A8-3850 FM1 with HD 6550D - $135 enough to surpass XBOX 360 graphics even though its built-in?
  11. You have four Gb in that build, the Apu will manage gfx duties fine
  12. So you want a PC to play the same games as your X-Box? You DO realize you will have to buy new copies of the games. X-Box and PC games aren't compatible.
  13. you don't need a 1000$ build to play games at good quality, even a 800$ build is good enough with open upgrades when you have more bread
