FX-4100 $60 (with Hyper 212 Evo for OC along with better case for airflow)
Phenom II 960T $50 (with Hyper 212 Evo for OC along with better case for airflow)
i3-2100 $100

If I went AMD, I'd get a Asrock 970 Extreme4 motherboard.
If I went Intel, I'd get a Asrock H61M/U3S3.

I think this heavily favors the AMD CPU's no?

My FX was so bad I ended up trading it in to go back to a Phenom II. I got lucky and found the 960T, it is a much more efficient/more versatile CPU.

PS where the hell did you find a 960T for $50 bucks ?!?!? I paid $100 for mine from MC.

Well the benchmarks don't lie the core i3 2100 is faster when it comes to gaming and more power efficient. I don't get the purpose of these threads when the info is readily available. Socket AM3 + is dead there's no other cpu better than the one you are considering at least for gaming that is.

Then again you are about to get the 960t for 60 dlls which is dirt cheap. I'd say go with the 960t.

Links to those prices please.

Because last I checked the 960T sold for around $125: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103995

Lets be reasonable. The LGA1155 socket is equally dead.

i would suggest 960t.
BTW,your quote should be g500+x4!

You're correct my friend...
But still, dead for dead I stay with the faster

I'll take a quad core over a dual core any day though. The rules of horseshoes and hand grenades (close enough) apply to the gaming performance of Phenom II and i3-2100. BTW, did you check out my Metro 2033 screenies in the other thread? Something fishy there.

Aww.. Than yea, go with the 960T. Don't expect it, but you may be able to unlock two more cores making it a 6 core. I've heard rumors that it is possible, but I don't know how to go about doing it.
