Toshiba satellite L655-S5158 cutting off after a short period(1-30mins

I own a toshiba satellite L655-S5158, model#: PSK2CU-0R901U. Sometimes it would cut off during POST, sometimes it would last up to 30mins and more allowing me to perform my tasks until it cuts off. There is no BSOD, just an instant cut off. Can anyone please help me to rectify this problem? Thank you.

Well, what is your operating system , have you upgraded recently from a previous OS version? Check your Device Manger for any errors.

Most laptops can't be upgraded to a later version OS.

Have you added extra ram?

Keep the side vents clear of blankets and clutter, use a cooling pad to help dissipate heat underneath.

The battery is most likely the culprit..

It came with windows 7, the OS was never changed. No hardware modifications was made. All vents are clear, cooling pad did not make a difference. The system still cuts off when the battery is removed and powered from the charger.
