8gb vs 16gb for gaming

Any real advantage of having 16gb of ram over 8gb? Generally its only the game and background stuff like antivirus going on.

8GB is more than enough for your gaming needs; 16 is overkill. You will unlikely to even go over 6.

I idle 3GB and never go over 6 when playing games. Only reason I have 16gb is I got a very good deal.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but once the wallet opens up for an upgrade it tends to get out of hand. Thanks guys
