Hello,
I have an a740gm-m motherboard. When I put in an additional kvr667d2n5/2g memory card the computer won't boot.

It just lights up, but does not boot.

Any help woud be appriciated.

Do the sticks both work individually? If yes, try to reset the cmos.

Yes, the both work in each of the slots individually. Let me try the CMOS Reset.

Thanks........

I have a similar problem with my P67H2-A2 mobo. Boots with 1 stick but not with 2. Both sticks are functional individually though.

Do you get a POST error code?

OK, I checked my motherboard manual & it talks about 'Load default settings to resetthe default CMOS values'. But it doesn't give details about how to do that.

This is a section named Resetting the Default CMOS Values... Am I in the right place??

No, I don't get any Error codes... Just a blank screen. But everything works with single memory stick in a single slot (regardless of which one)

BTW.. Thanks a bunch for helping out.

Before I start the 'Load Default Settings' are there any backups, etc. I should do??? Like creating a boot disk?

Thanks again!!!!

You don't need a boot disk or any other backup. Have you done any changes to the bios defaults so far? Changing the boot order? Changing SATA from IDE to AHCI? If yes, that's what you should write down. You can try to reload the bios defaults like described in the manual. The better way would be to use the clear cmos jumper on the mobo.

For A740M-M memory issue, do two sticks of memories have the same part#? Or, they have different specification like timing and speed. Please check the following link how to clear the CMOS jumper and load the default setting:
