moving from TDMA to GSM in SF (and could use a phone recom..

I guess it depends on where you are in SF. I'm in the Richmond District
and in my area, ATT would get 5 bars and Cingular 1 bar if I was lucky
and standing in the right spot.

Since I got a 64K SIM and started using it on my Cingular issued ENS
enabled phone, I get nothing but 5 bars in most areas of SF.

Friggin' amazing! It's almost like the commercials!

I am not in SF but I was a very long term ATT TDMA customer who recently
"upgraded" to Cingular GSM. I live in a major metropolitan city and thus
far I have experienced more dropped calls with GSM in the last three weeks
than I have experienced with TDMA in the last 5 years. I have tried three
different phones and there is a tremendous difference.

The rollover minutes and price was good but I really wonder about this
functionality. Now, I am assuming Cingular will add more bandwidth or
whatever they need to do really fast because as it stands, for me anyway,
there is no comparison and I wish I had not changed as this point. BTW, I
have a relative who lives in Chicago area and they alerted me before I
changed about the spotty reception. I blew them off and when for the
rollover minutes and other doodads. I hope to heaven they get this thing
tuned in better.

FYI, the Moto V551 is arguably the best phone currently offered by Cingular.
