Antec 902 V3 USB 3.0 problems

Recently I purchased an Antec 902 V3 case. It was advertised as having 2 front panel USB 2.0 ports and 1 front panel USB 3.0 port. Indeed if you go to the Antec web site that is what is advertised. When I received mine I realized that I had 3 USB 3.0 ports, and two cables (one split into 2 for the third port) coming from the front panel, but only with 20 pin connectors. My MB does not have and USB 3.0 headers. I have 2 USB 3.0 connections on the back of my MB. SOoooo, I purchased 2 USB 3.0 cables, 2 USB 3.0 Box Header 20pin to Box Header 20pin Male Adapters http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10314&cs_id=1031403&p_id=8167&seq=1&format=2, and 2 of these Bitfenix connectors: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0371734. I hooked it all up and get no connection to the front panel connectors. I can only confirm that the USB 3.0 cables work when plugged into the MB back panel connectors. I also switched out the Bitfenix connectors, and tried these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005AJX9MW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 but I still have no connection to the front panel. What can I do?

Sounds to me that you took the long way around and placed one to many connectors in there to do something simple. One of those connectors may be doing something that it should not do.

I for one try to take direct routes when using adapters. For instance this may be the cable you needed:

http://www.cmstore-usa.com/usb-3-0-19pin-to-2-external-usb-3-0-connectors-oem-package/

The only problem that may arise is the cost of the cable + shipping + availability.

Corsair also sells a cable that will connect a USB2 internal header to the USB3 ports if you want to go that route, but again it comes down to the cost of the cable + shipping + availability.

That's what I did using different products:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10314&cs_id=1031403&p_id=8167&seq=1&format=2

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005AJX9MW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?tag=vglnk-c1001-20

alternatively: http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/products/accessories/internal-usb3-adapter

and these cables:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VTZ070/ref=pe_175190_21431760_cs_sce_dp_1

Is there something superior to the products you have suggested?

I am still trying to figure out 1)if I have made some flaw in the logic of my product choice 2)if there is some other way to check out the components I already purchased (btw, i switched all the connectors around to see if any one was failing), and 3) why the heck did I get this 3 USB 3.0 front panel version of the Antec 902 V3 which doesn't even exist on Antec's web site!

No, just a simpler method that doesn't require a hard to find double male cord.

1) Unlikely.

2) Did you try plugging the double male cord into the front, and using the adapters, plug a device into the header cable?

3) Who knows, Newegg has the following to say:

FRONT MOUNTED I/O PORTS
The front-mounted I/O panel offers convenient access to one USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0 and Audio In & Out ports.

Remember that only the blue ports are USB 3.0

I'm not sure what you did.
Wait a sec, i think I see it now.

From your FP header you plugged in this:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10314&cs_id=1031403&p_id=8167&seq=1&format=2,

and have this plugged into that:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0371734.

And then two of these cable plugged into that:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VTZ070/ref=pe_175190_21431760_cs_sce_dp_1

Which should be coming out the rear of your pc case and plugging into the usb3 ports on the back.

If this is correct then go into your bios and make sure usb3 ports are turned on and then when you go into windows load the USB3 drivers. Its not automatically supported by Windows. If setup like I posted then it should work.

I have the exact same case, but only one of my front panel ports is 3.0, the other 2 are 2.0 (the cable that splits in two comes from these ports). Are you sure that yours are USB 3.0 the three of them?

The headers are completely different. The USB 2.0 connections look like the HD Audio and MB header connections, while the USB 3.0 looks more like a shrunken IDE connector.

1) the front panel connectors all are blue, indicating 3 USB 3.0 ports.

2). The front panel cable plugs are both labled USB 3.0.

If I can post pictures here I shall do so in a little while.

I thought they made something like that, but I couldn't find anywhere that actually had them in stock.

OK, sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread. In following my strategy of just keep buying what people suggest, I have ordered the cables suggest by thundervore, from CoolerMaster. Of course that was 5 days ago, my order status says "Awaiting shipment" and Coolermaster has not responded to my emails.....

I finally got the cables and installed them. I was able to get two of the three USB 3.0 ports to work.
