I want my own PC and decided I might as well build one for gaming while I was at it, so I'm here for help. I don't know much about hardware so please bare with me. I have a spending limit of 700$ and I'll be using the asus vh236h as my monitor everything else I'll need help with. Thanks in advance.

I want to play games like BF3 and SWTOR on max and also want to future proof myself as much as possible.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115073 (the "k" version of this cpu will cost you $35 more if you want to overclock (counting the $15 discount)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820220570 (I've used this ram with amd and Intel boards)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814102908 (you can spend more if you want, but this chipset seems to be the favorite)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811147108 (usb 3.0 connector, plenty of fans and side facing hardrive cage)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817341017 (I use ocz ps; this is an excellent value with free dvd burner and $15 gift card)

Reply to o1die

Hi! I would first like to start out saying, o1die's build is pretty good, however, I would NEVER EVER go with the i5 2500, either the i5 2400 or the i5 2500k, the i5 2500 is a waste of money, the i5 2500k isnt however.
This is going to be my set up:

CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 $125
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115078

Graphics: HIS H687FN1GD Radeon HD 6870 $160
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814161389

MoBo: ASRock H61M-VS $60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157241

PSU: Antec Basiq BP500U 500W $54
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817371004

Case: NZXT Gamma $40
http://www.amazon.com/GAMMA-Classi [...] B002UDK9U6

HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB $85
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822148767

RAM: G.SKILL Value Series 8GB $37
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231422

Heatsink+Fan: Stock $0

DVD-ROM: LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk 24X $18
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827106289

Windows 7: Win 7 64bit OEM $100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6832116986

Explanation: The i3 2100 is a great cpu that can hyperthread to 4 processes. The Radeon 6870 is a top performing gpu. The ASRock motherboard is decently priced and performs well. The 500W PSU is enough for all the components and is reliable. The NZXT case was designed for gaming computers and all your components will fit into it. The 500GB HDD for storage. 8GB of RAM is more than sufficient for a gaming system, in fact it's somewhat of an overkill. The Lite-on DVD burner is for DVDs and Win 7 installation. The Windows 7 disk is what hurt the system the most. The cost of the OS doesn't allow for better performance parts

Thanks a lot for the builds guys! also I should mention Im a student so I get windows 7 pretty much free so theres no need to add that in the cost. I'm going through each link and researching every part since I know so little about this stuff
