From Gtx 280 to...??

Hi guys...!

I´m running a Phenom II X4 940 OC´d to 3.5Ghz (stock voltage) and a GTX 280.

I need a lil´bit more muscle to play MW3 and Battlefield 3.
I´ve been thinking of getting a 6870. Will it noticeably improve performance? Or should I make an effort to get a 6950?


I hear/read another recommendations. No AMD bias here...but I believe those 2 and the GTX 570(that one´s out of the question) are the best bang for the buck.

Gaming res: 1680x1050.

The 6950 really is the way to go from your choices take a look at the 560Ti too it will be 50 to 80 bucks cheaper the 6950 is better but not by a lot I have found the 560 Ti for 189 with rebate and the 6950 is more around 250 on a good day.

You will notice a performance boost, probably by around 20% or more (if the numbers from TechPowerUp are correct) if you go for the HD 6870. With an HD 6970 or GTX 560 Ti, much more.

Your resolution is slightly smaller than the one in the video, so expect a few extra frames, but not much.
