New htpc

Hey all,

I currently have an appletv2 running xbmc barely, in that i use it for streaming from one of the most popular add ons, other than that it doesnt seem to like smb shares or the like.

I'm thinking of moving to a full htpc for around 300$ and I'm hoping to use it as a replacement for cable(which i got rid of ages ago)

I'm canada based and want to use vpns to access bbc and american content.

I've extracted and replaced hard drives and sound cards before, but that's about it. would love some ideas on what i should do..

Seems like a deal to me. Specs wise, it will certainly do. I would read the bottom review by terry_b and follow that advice. The Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive is not cheap, but also does what he says it does. You also do not need an expensive ram kit. Just basic DDR3 laptop ram.

The black is cheaper, but will likely get too hot in that rig.
