I'm considering this build:

My Wishlist

Any thoughts? I am purchasing it for gaming, but I have a 460 GTX that I'll use that is fine for now - right now it's the load times in games that are driving me nuts, hence the upgrade (Star Wars TOR to be specific).

I'll be picking up the CPU at Microcenter as well for the lower price. Reusing my new 700W PSU.

Also to be specific - about the current price is the range I'm looking at; mostly I don't want to go "overkill" paying top $ for the most current things, but I want something with a little longevity. My current gaming desktop has lasted me 4 years with 2 graphics card upgrades and a mem increase, original build was $800, and I'm pretty happy with that.

Your wish list is empty. After making it public, go to the wish list you wish to share, copy the number at the end to your notepad, then click on any existing public wish list(not yours) and delete the number at the end of it, put yours in the place of it. That will be a link to you shared wishlist.

It looks to be a pretty strong system. You'd save 50 bucks on your motherboard if you got it at microcenter when you buy the Processor, there was a post about it earlier this afternoon in one of these threads.

With the 6 series coming out any time now, it probably is really a good idea to wait on a GPU, and grab a 5 series when the prices go down, or a 6 series when the right one becomes available.

yes that is a good build, your gtx 460 should last you a while and even play many games if not on high, would be at mid-high or low-mid but if you want to be able to play games at another level in 1920x1080 try to concider

msi gtx 560 ti, tf2/oc
214.99$ with the rebate thingy 2 if them would do well, you can even sell 1 of your 460 and keep the other for physx if you want

Thanks all for the quick feedback - one question, I have read a couple times about the $50 off at Microcenter on the Mobo/CPU bundle - is that the same motherboard? (The Gen 3 etc etc?). I have searched the forums, googled, and even flipped through their online catalog and am not having any luck finding it. If it's $50 off for the bundle I would def pick them both up there.

I'll probably just keep my 460GTX for now and upgrade if I get annoyed by slow FPS at some point. ;)

And thanks Jeremy for fixing the wishlist :p Not sure what I did wrong - I shared it but wasnt sure what the right link would be. :)

Dang - I finally decided to try just adding them to my cart at microcenter.com and the price of the mobo magically dropped $50. Very nice!!
