Volume changing on its own

Hello, I've encountered this weird problem when listening to practically anything on my computer. While listening for music, for example, the volume randomly decreases or increases for few seconds, then comes back to normal level. I have no idea what's up with that.

I have onboard 7.1 soundcard and 5.1 speakers and it used to be normal for years. I've suspected card to be faulty, but I tried another 5.1 soundcard, which was in my previous rig, but the problem STILL occurs. I believe soundcards are just fine. This began just recently and it's quite annoying...

If anyone has any idea, I would be glad for some feedback. Thanks.

Sorry for late reply, was not at home for past few days.

Anyway, I'm using Windows 7 x64, playing music in Winamp, but I get the problem on YouTube too for example. My soundcards are:

- ASUS P5N-D onboard card (Realtek High Definition Audio)
- Cheap Genius 5.1 card (C-Media PCI Audio Device)

Oh, and I never used Skype, so that is not what's causing this issue.
