Hi, Im in the middle of buying a new computer and i was wondering if this setup would be able to max out flight simulator with good fps. Im also using this computer for surfing the internet , and homework. My budget is 1000$ - 1250$ and im 100 dollars overprice with what i think is a perfect setup. Im using the site ncix.ca, so if anyone thinks i should change some for the same price/ less and get same performance , or not better please let me know .

My specs are :

Intel Core i7 2600K Quad Core Unlocked Hyperthreading Processor LGA1155 3.4GHZ Sandy Bridge 8MB ( not overclocking, cant risk computer dieing early)

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - hard drive

Diamond Xtreme Sound 5.1 Channel PCI Sound Card - sound card

Heatsink Included With My CPU -- heatsink

ASUS P8Z77-M mATX LGA1155 Z77 DDR3 2PCI-E16 1PCI-E1 1PCI SATA3 HDMI DVI USB3.0 Motherboard -- motherboard

Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB 2X4GB DDR3 -- ram

EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD SC Fermi 797MHZ 1280MB GDDR5 2XDVI Mini-HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Video Card - video card ( graphics)

Thermaltake TR2 600W ATX12V V2.2 24PIN Power Supply with 120MM Fan

Thanks in Advance for your response, i will give helper top comment please help me out.

If you're not overclocking you don't need the 'K' on the end, and I'm unsure whether Fsx uses hyperthreading? if not then the 2500 or even 2400 will do, theres a saving
if you put a post in homebuild section after filling this out we can get to helping you and hopefully doing it for less

I really do not see the beenies of the i7, 4 cores/8threads vs the i5-2500K with 4cores/4threads. No diff for your games and your "outside" of gaming does not even come close to taxing a i5-2500k

You could get the i5-2550 non K, but for the price diff get the i5-2500k, Then after a coulple of years and if it feels sluggish then OC it. For what it's worth department a Mild OC of say 4.2 GHz on the i5-2500k will still outlast your expected use of it.

One other thing is the HSF, if they are "building it" at least have them put a hyper 212+ EVEN if you never OC. The Stock Intel HSF is at the BOTTOM of the Totom Pole for performance. A 10 C hotter Stock i5-2500 would probably die before a "cooler" running i5-2500k @ 4.2 GHz.

I helped him out in a thread yesterday, and he said that it's gonna be a Noctua NH-D14, so I think he's good there.

Edit: And I DO think that at least a 2600K will help because FSX LOVES more cores/threads, so I think HT will help him there, but I agree, for everything else, the i7 is overkill for him.
