Cpu - AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE @ 3.2ghz - Default cooler
GPU - ASuS ENGTX 550Ti - CU Cooler
PSU - Earthwatt 430w Antex
Memory - 8GB DDR3 1333mhz - Heat Spreaders Default
HDD - 500GB Western Digital
CD-R - Old 16x drive
Mobo - Biostar TA870u3+
Fans - 3 120mm 2000rpm fans
Case - NZXT Gamma

Issue - My pc is quiet when idle. and was quiet when i had my GT 430 card. Now that ive upgraded to a GTX 550Ti ive ran into a bit of an issue with my cpu fan. whenever i turn on a game that i played with my 430gt all i hear is a jet engine revving up in my case. i checked my graphics card and its quiet up until 2700rpm so i knew the gpu wasnt an issue. now i go look at the speeds on my cpu and its at 6000rpm. is there any possible way to reduce the noise? i hate sitting next to a jet engine especially in battlefield lol. thanks for all replies :)

Off hand it sounds like something is obstructing one of your fans. You could try re-routing your cables and see what that does.
