Video Ram question..help..help

specs: amd phenom II 955 BE
ati hd 6770 1gb
8 gb ddr2 ram
windows 7 64 bit


I'm a huge gamer and when I use sites like "can I run it", like did today for Elder Scrolls Skyrim", it shows only 752.5mb of video ram for my ati 6770. I'm sure this is just a noob question, and I just don't understand how it works. I'm plugged into my video card and not using any onboard video. Does windows 7 use the other 247.5mb of video ram or why am I not getting the full 1gb of ram that my gpu has.....thx

I don't know what is happening (possibly a card with some defective memory?), but Win7 is not using the unaccounted for RAM.

have you installed latest driver.

Check GPUZ (free download) That should give you the correct memory and check in windows. I suspect that the software is just detecting your Ram incorrectly is all.
