Hello, as the title reads, I'm having trouble getting the audio to work through the hdmi cable.
Setup is as follows:
graphics card --> hdmi cable --> hdtv.
I've done some research and it seems the older models, pre-400 series, required an spdif cable from the graphics card to the mobo for sound. I read the newer models have the sound "built-in", is this true?
Is my 420gt geforce able to pass both video and sound through the hdmi?
I've tried setting the hdmi in the sound option as the default device, but it still isn't working.
The sound bar moves when i switch to the hdmi output device however no sound is coming out.
I've installed the lastest nvidia drivers as well.
I don't know but when I used my tv as a monitor for my computer I had to run the little cable with green ends, the cable that you run from the computer back side to the monitor and you have those little jacks that are color coded pink, green, etc. That is how I got sound to my tv. Other than that I don't know about running sound through the Hdmi. But that doesn't mean you can't do it. I just don't know how it is done. I wish you good luck on fixing it and if you can do it I would like to know how also.
