Do all the effects in XP decrease performance

I like the new look of XP (the silver theme) but i dont want to use it if it decreases perfromance. Does it? Thx for any help.

Simply put, yes, but very insignificantly especially on newer machines. On older machines, there's more a more visible slow down.

Silver theme?? Where is everyone getting these themes from??? I have XP, Classic, and then I installed Plus so I got nature, space, aquarium, and something else. Where can one get the silver and rainbow themes? is it b/c I have XP Pro Corporate?

I can't notice a difference on a 1 Ghz machine. Just use the one that you prefer.
