Looks like to be an am3 or am3+ board
  3. It doesn't have a cpu installed,it was called a barebones computer.
  4. The seller on ebay said it was am3 socket?
  5. Do you need more info to help?
  6. Problem #1:
You need to replace the motherboard to use a new CPU. Since HP, ASUS, Dell, Compaq, etc. Computers that are already assembled have locked BIOS's. So basically if you make any hardware changes... You would be screwed. other than changing the graphics card.

    Heres the specs for reference.

Why should he have to do that? As long as the new CPU is supported by the BIOS, it should work. OEM mobo's aren't locked down so much that you can ONLY ever use 1 specific CPU in it...

It looks like it supports it/came with it originally, on some models, so I'd say yes. The Phenom II X4 B95 (3.0 GHz, 8 MB total cache) looks to be the top end for that system.

THAT part I can't tell you because I don't keep up with the prices on older stuff (or AMD stuff at all, really). Anything I say would be purely just a guess on that, lol.
  13. Ok thank you for the help
