Hey guys!

So this will be my first official gaming PC. I'm looking for a gaming rig that will be able to run BF3 at high settings on a 1900x1200/1900x1080 resolution monitor. Willing to wait a little for Q1 components to become available. Also would prefer this rig to be pre-built, although if someone can give me a rundown of the cost effectiveness of home building it (I'm quite a noob at that) that would be splendiferous.

Approximate Purchase Date: March-April 2012

Budget Range: $900-$1000 total, although I might go up to $1100 if it's absolutely neccessary

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, downloading content, surfing the internet, watching movies

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: anything to keep more cash in my wallet

Country: US of A

Parts Preferences: none

Overclocking: Maybe? If it is easily doable and will not compromise stability, then yes.

SLI or Crossfire: no

Monitor Resolution: (1920x1080/1920x1200) depends on the kinds of monitors you guys recommend

Additional Comments: Must be able to run Battlefield 3 at great settings, must be able to run Traktor Pro (DJing software), rig must be reliable and stable. I know upgrades of a lot of this hardware are becoming available Q1 2012 and I'm willing to wait up until mid april or so before purchasing.

Thank you guys so much!

Then we can discuss and decide the best setup for you.

March or April? You might even want to wait for the new IvyBridge procs which are going to be launched in April :)

If you are really want to buy it now:
i7 2500k
ASRock Z58 extreme3 gen3
G.SKill DDR3 1600 8GB (2x4)
Crucial m4 128GB (If you still have some room in your budget, an SSD is a must)
HD6850 (at least, according to your budget)
Corsair 500W CX500 V2 builder
Any 1TB or 500GB HDD 7200rpm you can get...can not get too picky for this one currently :)
Any PC case you like :)
Win7 x64 Home Premium (if you do not have it yet)
Monitor? I dunno at the moment...sorry..

...I dunno how much those will cost you in US tho'...

I know ppl might get on me for saying this, but if you're really going for a great gaming experience, you might want to think about putting some of that budget towards a nice big HDTV. I just finished my first build as well, and I have been playing on my new 37" tv and it is AWESOME!

I only spent about $650 on my system and I am still able to play BF3 (campaign) and Skyrim at just under ultra settings (i.e. with some AA turned off) at . I bought an AMD X4 960T and unlocked and overclocked it, along with a HD 6870.
