Compag F700 powers on and off

I have a Compaq F700 Laptop that powers on and off when the power button is pressed. I can press and hold the power button to get the unit to stay off. When I press the power button to turn the unit on again if I press the F10 key the unit will stay on and not cycle, but I still have a black screen and the unit will not fully boot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you get into the bios at all and is this a new computer or something you have had and it just started doing this. If it is new then you should be calling the place you bought it from or Compaq

Thanks Inzone for the reply. I have had this unit for some time now and this just started. It was working fine one night and the next morning the problem started. I am not able to get to the bios, can't get the unit to boot from a boot disk either.
