If you already have a WiFi router - just a WiFi network adapter.
You do know that gaming over WiFi can be less than ideal?

I don't plan to do any gaming on it just yet. I am an engineering student, priorities being Autocad, Excel, Internet

I'll check out the ASUS - thank you
