CrossFireX internal bridge interconnects NOT properly attached?!!?!?!?

I have bought a second video card to crossfire and when I try to enable crossfireX in AMD Catalyst I get the message:

Quote:
The AMD CrossFireX internal bridge interconnects linking your graphics cards together are not properly attached. Both bridge interconnects must be attached. For more information, see the user's guide for your graphics card.

I have 2 HD 6790's. They are different brands, but from what I read everywhere, that is not an issue.

One is XFX and the other is Maxsun. Each has a single spot to connect the bridge.

I am of course using a crossfire bridge.

What I tried to do so far:
1. Uninstall all AMD drivers and catalyst, then reinstall.
2. Switch positioning of bridge.
3. Switch which slots the cards are in.
4. Uninstall all drivers and catalyst, put in one card, install catalyst, put in other card w/ bridge connected.
5. Uninstall all drivers and catalyst, put in both cards w/ bridge connect.
6. Uninstall the USB 3.0 Hub driver.

I tested both cards in both slots. Slots on motherboard are good and cards are good.

My motherboard is listed here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Its a Biostar A870U3 and says that it works with crossfireX.

The PCIe slots are PCI express 2.0 @ x16 and x4 (I don't mind the x4 since I don't run in high resolutions)

I've tried everything I could think of but this is the first time I've crossfired and I'm not very knowledgeable except for the basics. Needless to say... very frustrated... :fou:

PLEASE HELP!

Biostar, the mobo maker, officially doesn't know what is wrong and turned me to the card manufacturer. awesome.
