Upgrading my 8800GT Alpha dog ed.

Hi,

Its high time I upgraded my GPU for the recent games like Skyrim. My 8800GT Alpha dog ed (1GB) is kinda outdated and I like to play most games on max settings whenever possible.

My specs

CPU : Core i7- 2.8 Ghz
GPU : Geforce 8800GT (1 GB)
Ram : 4 GB Ram
OS : Win 7 Professional
Resolution : 1680x1050
PSU : 700 W

Here are the details of my upgrade

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: asap

BUDGET : Not more than $400, would prefer if its about $350-$370

USAGE : Games like Skyrim, Crysis, etc.

PARTS PREFERENCES: Nvidia only

OVERCLOCKING: Might OC in the future but not likely

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680x1050 for now, 1920x1080 in the future perhaps

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I would like something that allows me to max/play on high for about at least 2-3 years. Its unlikely I would get a bigger monitor anytime soon so you can safely assume my resolution to stay at 1680x1050

A GTX 570 would be a great upgrade for you , or i you can wait for a few more days the new version of the 560ti would also be a good card to consider

I was thinking the same thing. However, if I get a bigger monitor and play at 1920x1080, will I be able to play on max two years down the line?

Yup you sure will , they pretty much max games now at 1920x1080, good cards for your budget
