New build, been out of the "game" for a while

Hey all,

Looking to build a new PC very soon. I've gone the DIY route before (P4 2.8, Radeon 9800) but that was nearly a decade ago, and have been using Mac only for the last 4 years. So suffice to say I'm a little out of the loop on what's good etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a big believer in supporting local mom-and-pop businesses, so if I can get something close in the price range (few hundred at the most) of building it myself, I'd prefer to do that.

Approximate Purchase Date: Locally? The end of the week. Newegg? Order by this weekend most likely.

Budget Range: $1,000-$1,500 Can go up to $2K if need be, but unless it'll make french toast, $1,500 should suffice. After Rebates. Nice to get, but not important.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Strictly a gaming and development rig. UDK and XNA. Gaming will be things like Skyrim, Diablo III, KoA:Reckoning. That being said, I want the ability to be able to play ANY shooter at a decent frame-rate with a minimum of 1020x1980 resolution and high effects turned on.

Parts Not Required: I have a 24" Sony LED TV (that PS3 bundle one) that I plan on using as a monitor for the time being.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Locally, I'll probably use for anything else, Newegg.

Country: Rochester, NY, USA

Parts Preferences: Not particularly picky, but I've never had issues with Intel.

Overclocking: Maybe. Open to the idea, but not looking to do it if I don't have to.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe. See overclocking.

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: Again, this is mainly going to be a development machine. I've already got a 27" iMac with a QC i7 CPU to do my other heavy lifting. Also own all the consoles as well, so the PC will only be used for game testing my dev stuff, and the exclusive games.
